The exhibit consisted of 40 canvases, 6”x9” each, hand-made by myself, and primed. Some for the luminous images from a mobile phone screen and some for the denser lighting of a life-sitting, namely, the kitchen of my student house.
The bottom row of canvases was reserved for visitors to the exhibition who’d like their portrait painted there and then. I had one “subject” during the exhibition opening night and somewhat unsurprisingly there were not too many volunteers during the week-long exhibition. During and since the degree I have done some “live portraiture” at exhibitions held in The Old Post Office Gallery, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent.
